What are the steps I need to take in order to get into dental school? http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-hygienist-training/what-are-the-steps-i-need-to-take-in-order-to-get-into-dental-school http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-hygienist-training/what-are-the-steps-i-need-to-take-in-order-to-get-into-dental-school#comments Fri, 30 Apr 2010 08:29:10 +0000 admin http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-hygienist-training/what-are-the-steps-i-need-to-take-in-order-to-get-into-dental-school OMG i’m soo confused as to what to do with my life! I’m going to be 3rd year in college and I’m pursuing a bachelors in biology. But do I need a degree before I enter a dental school? And how do I get training to become a dental hygienist or dental assistant if my university doesn’t offer those programs?

You can find dental school admission requirements here:

You will need a degree for admission.

You can go to a different school if it is not offered at your school./

What will happen moving to another state as a Dental Assistant? http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-assistant-class/what-will-happen-moving-to-another-state-as-a-dental-assistant http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-assistant-class/what-will-happen-moving-to-another-state-as-a-dental-assistant#comments Wed, 28 Apr 2010 07:45:48 +0000 admin http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-assistant-class/what-will-happen-moving-to-another-state-as-a-dental-assistant Im a Certified DA in California and I have my Xray License. Im moving to Minnesota soon and im curious who i can talk to about my license. Is there a Fee to get it renewed in another state or Do i have to retake the class? Any information will help thanks :)
Are you a CDA. National Board Certified, through the DANB ?? Do you have a License # ? If so you are fine, it is a National certification, but if you are Expanded Functions with no License that is different. EFDA’s are not the same as CDA’s. Call whoever "certified" you and ask them. But I think you would know if you were DANB, or at least you should.

Im needing some expert advice what would be the way to go about applying for pharmacy tech positions? http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-hygienist-training/im-needing-some-expert-advice-what-would-be-the-way-to-go-about-applying-for-pharmacy-tech-positions http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-hygienist-training/im-needing-some-expert-advice-what-would-be-the-way-to-go-about-applying-for-pharmacy-tech-positions#comments Wed, 28 Apr 2010 07:45:44 +0000 admin http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-hygienist-training/im-needing-some-expert-advice-what-would-be-the-way-to-go-about-applying-for-pharmacy-tech-positions I will finish with a certificate in may. And i also would like to know if anyone knows anything about dental hygienist hands on training? I have applied for dental hygiene school but because i didnt have enough hands on training I didnt get accepted. I have taken all pre reqs available for just about anything!!! I applied for radiology program just havent heard yet if I got accepted. Im just kinda in a hole and need some advice on what my options are and how to go about succeeding!!. My main goal is to get accepted in a dental hygiene program, but Im having to have several options and it is a bit discourageing. Im a single mother with 2 children raising them on my own, and im about hour 1/2 away from the nearest dental hygiene school. A friend’s daughter had gotten trained on the job for dental hygiene and then helped her get into the dental hygiene school. That would be the most awsome thing to happen!!! Anyway thank you and I am hoping for a kick in the butt to the right direction to suceed for me and my kids!!!!

Dental hygienists and dental assistants are 2 different things.
You CANT get hands on training as a hygienist! It is against the law. No office can teach you how to be a hygienist (except maybe TX and alabama) before you become one.
Maybe they want you to OBSERVE? That you can do by simply calling your own dentist or any dental office and ask if you can come in and observe because you are trying to get into a hygiene program.

That friends daughter got trained as a dental ASSISTANT on the job, not a hygienist. She might have gone to dental assisting school which is a 1 year certificate program. Hygiene programs are 2 or 4 years long and you can’t be trained on the job ahead of time!
Do not apply to a program if you don’t even know what the proper name for the job title is.

Also just so you know nursing or surgical tech (1 year program S tech!) is a better option. Hygiene jobs are not plentiful right now in this economic recession.

Can I be a dental assistant if I have a felony? http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-assistant-class/can-i-be-a-dental-assistant-if-i-have-a-felony http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-assistant-class/can-i-be-a-dental-assistant-if-i-have-a-felony#comments Mon, 26 Apr 2010 08:47:40 +0000 admin http://www-dental-schools.com/blog/dental-assistant-class/can-i-be-a-dental-assistant-if-i-have-a-felony Well when I had barely turned 18 I did something stupid, now I have 2 felonies on my record, a class 6 and class 4 felony. Will these felonies prevent me from being a certified dental assistant? Its only been 2 years since conviction. And in the state of AZ if that makes a difference.

well im from australia and it doesnt stop you being and assistant here , i dont have a felony though but even if i did they wouldnt know because they never checked !
